Center for Discovery & Innovation seeking scientists to continue cancer, infectious disease and restorative health research

Faculty Recruitment

The new Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) – Center for Discovery & Innovation (CDI) is located approximately 10 miles from New York City on the former historic Hoffman La Roche campus in Nutley, NJ, adjoins the new HMH School of Medicine.  CDI emphasizes basic, translational and clinical research addressing unmet medical needs in cancer, infectious diseases, and restorative health.  The CDI’s 17 principal investigator laboratories, 8 research faculty members and a staff of about 125 scientists and support personnel are supported by numerous core facilities for flow cytometry, microscopy, biosafety level 3 labs, as well as an extensive AAALAC accredited animal facility.  CDI’s Board of Directors is chaired by Sol Barer (founder of Celgene and Chairman of the Board for Teva Pharmaceuticals). The CDI is closely linked to the John Theurer Cancer Center (JTCC) at Hackensack University Medical Center, which is one of the highest oncology patient volume centers in the country, particularly for the hematological malignancies, and is now officially NCI designated as a consortium partner with the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown.  The JTCC has large programs in multiple myeloma, lymphoma, leukemia and hematopoietic cell transplantation.  The CDI seeks to recruit several scientists, at all levels, to continue to build strength in cancer, infectious disease and restorative health research and to create a collegial and scientifically robust research environment with a high level of interaction with our clinicians.  Applications for faculty positions will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the remainder of this year and through the Spring of 2021.

The new faculty members at the CDI will be expected to have active and sustainable research programs and to qualify for academic appointment at the HMH School of Medicine and/or Georgetown University. Applicants applying for the Assistant Member level should have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant scientific discipline, postdoctoral research experience and an excellent record of productivity. Candidates for higher faculty positions should have an established track record of sustainable research funding and academic scholarship.  The CDI offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, and retirement benefits. We also provide support for professional career development and mentoring for grant and publication submissions.
