Tong Lab
Kevin Tong, Ph.D., is an Assistant Member of the Center for Discovery and Innovation.
Colorectal cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer associated deaths in the United States, with 10% of new patients being diagnosed under the age of 50. The Tong Lab research focuses on the genetic progression of colon cancers from initiation to metastasis. Using a combination of genetic mouse models and organoid systems that emulate mutations found in human patients, the lab aims to map the molecular mechanisms behind the prominent mutations found in colon cancers to seek out new targets for therapeutic treatments. The Tong Lab is supported by the National Cancer Institute Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00).
